I'm looking for a cheapass laptop to run Winamp for use as a jukebox. Just want to load it with tunes and hook it up to my home theatre for parties n' shit.

Barebones is all I require, I s'pose. I used to run Winamp flawlessly on my old Pentium 100MHz back in the day, so I really don't need anything that'll run Doom 3. Nomesayin'?

I have a 6GB Nomad Jukebox now, but it's not exactly easy to use for anyone not familar with the menu system. At least with Winamp, people can change the songs relatively easily without asking me and disrupting my power drinking.

Whatchoo got?

I saw a Dell ad the other day with a laptop for $399. I bought my last laptop from a used computer store. P3, 800M, 256RAM, 40 gig hd, & DVD for $300

Saw a few here that may do the job. Thought I'd ask here too.

My boss just bought that one, $499 but then there's a $100 mail in rebate. Actually not a bad PC for what you would want to do with it. Free wireless card as well (although I can't get the damn thing to pick up a stable signal).
