which campaign is most interesting to you?

Mine would be the Atlanta campaign in 1864. A series of hard fought battles, and all were rehearsals for WW1. This tells me that all of the Generals involved were ahead of their time strategically speaking. I also like Jackson's Valley campaign-but as you can see, Im a fan of the Civil War.

Besides the Civil War I think it is interesting to look at the campaigns more recently in Iraq. The Battle of Falluja (in Nov.) comes to mind. It just proved what the Germans learned in Stalingrad. The only way to defeat the enemy in the Urban Environment is by going house to house, not all that technology stuff.

I agree about technology. Military technology may give us some great advantages, but we still have an Achilles heel somewhere.

Some of my favorites are:

- Stalingrad
- The Winter War (Finland & USSR)
- The Teht Offensive

I have a few others, but those are most interesting to me. I am basically interested in any WWII campaign, except for PTO, I don't like the PTO very much.

- New Zealand Wars
- Gallipolli Campaign
- Most Western Front Battles of WW1, Verdun, Somme, Ypres, Passchendale, etc
- Western Front WW2 Battles as well, D-Day to Berlin....Especially Huertgen Forest, and the battles along the seigfried line during 1944-45...
- Monte Cassino, Crete, Tobruk
- Some Pacific Theatre campaigns like Tarawa, Iwo Jima, and Guadalcanal.
- Korean War, mainly because I know fuck all about the battles, and I've only really learnt about why the war itself happened.
- Tet Offensive, Dien Bien Phu
- Falklands Conflict

....And pretty much any conflict where NZers served interests me... happy:
